  9. To eliminate the glow in the off LED add these parts:

    2-    Res 1000 ohm @ 1/8W
    2-    Cap 0.10 uF @ 50V

Installation Notebook:

Sound Installed in Proto 2000 S1

This loco is NOT DCC ready, no matter what LifeLike claims. The orange motor lead is routed through the frame.  If you just plug your decoder in and the frame ever touches the rail - poof! No more decoder.

The DSD090 decoder used in this install was abruptly discontinued early in 2007. For now we have no suggestion as to a replacement decoder & speaker combination. We are keeping this install on the web site for background information. Hopefully a replacement will raise its head!

P2K S1 Sound Decoder

Remove the weight and isolate the motor. Then install a DSD-090LC decoder and speaker. Styrene sheet creates a mount for the speaker and a rear baffle. The resulting loco has a bit less traction than the original, but the sound makes up for it!

Soundtraxx does NOT recommend LEDs with LC decoders, as the rear light will glow occasionally as commands are processed. Add the extra parts shown to remove the glow.
