Sound Installed in Proto 2000 SD60

The SoundTraxx 820071 DSD-LL110LC decoder is designed for this loco.

Machining of the weight makes room for the speaker, as shown in the second photo.

A 2 pin connector allows complete shell removal. The speaker mounts below the rear fan grills. Styrene is used below the other fan grills to turn the shell into an infinite baffle.

Soundtraxx does NOT recommend LEDs with LC decoders, as the rear light will glow occasionally as commands are processed. The photo shows using incandescent bulbs. Bruce recommends the following:

Change to Golden White LEDs. To eliminate the glow in the off LED add the a resistor and a capacitor to each LED per this wiring diagram.
