  9. To eliminate the glow in the off LED add these parts:

    2-    Res 1000 ohm @ 1/8W
    2-    Cap 0.10 uF @ 50V

Sound Installed in Proto 2000 SD9

In the older (not DCC ready) locos, LifeLike doesn’t provide much to help you, but these guys can be fine sound installs.

The Atlas light board style decoders fit nicely. The speaker mounts behind the open fan grilles, with styrene covering the other grilles to turn the shell into an infinite baffle. Today, Bruce would use Golden White LEDs instead of the white LEDs in the photo.

Soundtraxx does NOT recommend LEDs with LC decoders, as the rear light will glow occasionally as commands are processed. Add the extra parts shown on the right to remove the glow.
